       In an undocumented article (April 03, 1949), the following was written:
       Madison Woman Dies in Crash
       Four persons Hurt on Springfield Hill
       A 73 year old Madison woman was killed and four other persons injured, one seriously, Saturday night in a head-on collision on Highways 1`2-13, about 10 miles northwest of Middleton on the Springfield hill.
       The dead woman is:

       The injured are:
       Edwin A. Berridge, 54, Rockford, Ill., in serious condition at St. Mary's Hospital.
       Mrs. Hattie Schultze, 110 N. Butler St., facial injuries, taken to St. Mary's.
       Gust Jankowsky, 72, of 110 W. Butler St., broken right hip, taken to St. Mary's.
       Harry G. Jankowsky, 22 of 110 N. Butler St., face and leg injuries, taken to St. Mary's

Ives, and a step father, George Wasem at 1517 5th Avenue North, Fort Dodge, Wahkonsa township, Webster County, Iowa. This happened prior to Claude leaving prior to living with his grandparents only some few months later. [WG 02.]

       In the 1920 U. S. Federal Census Claude M. Ives is a 27 year old, white single male. He was born in Iowa of parents who were both born in New York State. He reads, writes, and speaks English. And, he owns his own home free and clear. He is classified as a wage or salary laborer on a dairy farm, which he has probably inherited from his grandparents. Claude lives alone on State Road, town of Davenport, Delaware County, New York State. [ICM 04.]
       In the 1930 U S. Federal Census, Claude M. Ives is a 32 year old, white, single male. Although the Census reports he was born in New York State, he was actually born in Iowa. Both his mother and his father were born in New York State. He is not attending school, but he is able to read, write, and speak English. He owns his own home, which is valued at $1,550. He does not have a radio set and he does not live on a farm. Claude is classified as a day laborer. His not a veteran of any military conflict in which the U. S. has been involved. He lives on State Road 8, Town of Davenport, Delaware County, New York State. [ICM 03.]
       In the 1940 U. S. Federal Census, Claude M. Ivy is a 58 year old, white, male. The record indicates that he is married. This could be controversial since his obituary indicates that he died a single person. There is a female, Cathrine McClintock listed as living with Claude. She is 32 years of age and is supposedly his daughter. I have searched long and hard to find something about this person and to find a marriage record for Claude, but to no avail in either case. Thus, there is little to report from this record;: Claude owns the home in which he lives; it is valued at about $1,500. He has not attended school or college. He gave little information. [ICM 05.]

       CLAUDE M. IVES
       DAVENPORT -- Claude M. Ives, 74, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 1, at the Utter Rest Home Simpsonville.
       Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Davenport, with the Rev. Ray Wortring, pastor of the Davenport United Presbyterian Church, officiating.
       Burial will be later in Davenport Cemetery.
       Mr. Ives was born Sept. 3, 1894 at Webster City, Iowa, a son of Oliver and Jennie (Hanvey) Ives. He never married.
       He had been a resident at the Rest Home for about 18 months.
       Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Eunice Mae Thompson, Springfield, Oregon and several cousins.
       Friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

       EMIL NEUMANN, 71 DIES IN AUGUSTA
       AUGUSTA -- Emil Neumann, 71 dies at his home here Thursday.
He had been a resident of Augusta or the surrounding vicinity for most of his life.

       Survivors are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Goldine Ida, Augusta; Mrs. Flora Heideman, Eau Claire; Mrs. Viola Gueldner, Spring Valley; and Mrs. Minnie Farrell, St. Paul; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mabel Arndt, Augusta; a step-son, Art Piehl, Sturgis, S. Dak.: Three sisters, Mar. Bertha Bidmark and Miss Tilly Neumann, both of Eau Claire; and Mrs. Edna Thur, Fairchild; and two brothers, Arthur of Chippewa Falls, and Albert of Fairchild.

       Funeral services will be held here Monday. Friends may call at the Stipe-Anderson funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening and until time of services Monday.
