He lives with his parents and two sisters (Mavis L. and Dorothy F. Brewer) at 1021 2nd Street, 4th Ward, Webster City, Boone Township, Hamilton County, Iowa. [HaB 04.]
             In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Joseph K. Brewer is a 20 year old, white, single male. He speaks, reads, and writes English. He was born in Iowa of parents who were born in Iowa. He is a painter for the Monarch Factory. He is a worker and was at work at the time of the census. He lives at 1023 2nd Street, 4th Ward, Webster City, Boone Township, Hamilton County, Iowa with his parents, Brenda and Harvey, and one sister, Dorothy. [HaB 05.]
             Joseph Keister Brewer was born on August 12, 1909, graduated with the high school class of 1927, and from Webster City Junior College in 1929, and attended Iowa State University for one year. On March 20, 1932, he married Viola E. Paulsen, the daughter of August D. (Gus) and Henrietta Schwenn Paulsen, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City. Joe was employed at Compton's Food Market and Vi was bookkeeper at the Janson Auto Company. In 1935 he was hired by Skelly Oil Company to work with Lloyd Mathews, the manager and later the lessee of the local Skelly Station. He obtained the dealership in 1940 and operated Brewer's Skelly Service until the latter part of 1944. In 1943 Joe entered the Postal Service as a sub-carrier, then to clerk in financial section, to Foreman of Mails and to Assistant Postmaster and retired in 1972. Joe and Vi were the parents of three sons, Richard, Larry and Dennis. [JKB 01.]
             Obituary for Joseph Brewer, 90, Webster City:
             Joseph K. Brewer, 90, died Friday, Aug. 13 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.
             Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City. visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Foster Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church.
             Survivors are his wife, Viola, sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Richad and Bernita Brewer, Pleasant Hill, CA, Dr. Larry and Aletha Brewer, Charles City, Dr. Dennis and Judy Brewer of White Bear Lake, MN, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Brenda Kiester Brewer, and sisters, Dorothy Carpenter and Mavis Nelson.
             Joseph Kiester Brewer was born August 12, 1909 in Webster City, where he was raised and educated, graduating from high school in 1927. He then graduated from Webster City Junior College in 1929 and attended Iowa State University. He married Viola Paulson in 1932. They established their home in Webster City where he worked for Skelly Oil from 1934 to 1943. In 1943, he became employed with the U. S. Post Office, Webster City, retiring in 1977, as assistant postmaster. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, returning to Webster City in 1945.
             He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City. He was also a member of the Webster City Country Club and the American Legion Post 191 of Webster City. [JKB 03.]
