  • Notes
    •        In the Warren H. Brewer book, History of Brewer Family in North Carolina, etc., there are a couple of paragraphs on Stephen Brewer [StephB 01]:
"Stephen Brewer was born 1794-1800. He appears in the 1820 Wayne Co. Census. On Jan. 26, 1825 and again on Jan. 17, 1831, Stephen Brewer made land entries in West River township, Randolph county which adjoins Perry township, Wayne Co. on the north and these entries were seven and five miles respectively north of the town of Economy in Wayne Co. The 1830 Census West River Township, Randolph County, shows Stephen Brewer, born 1790-1800. These are all probably records of the same Stephen Brewer, and brother of our William. From these birth date limits, Stephen was born 1794-1800 which is about correct for him to be the brother of our William and we have taken it so.        These entries made by Stephen were not far from the land entries made by our William and Nathan Brewer in Wayne, Randolph and Henry Counties, whose corners join in this vicinity. He was married on August 29, 1819 by Rev. John Gibson to Susanna Wright of Randolph County, probably daughter of Joshua Wright who entered land in Randolph County in 1817. Stephen died while his son Bryant was a small child and is buried in Indiana. Since we find that a Wright had a land entry in Section 3 adjoining Stephen's entry of 1831 and since our Stephen married a Wright, we feel sure that this Stephen was the brother of William. "
