Notes |
- In the 1900 U. S. Federal Census, Luisa Wacker is a seven year old, white, single female. She was born in South Dakota of parents who were both born in Russia and who both speak German. Evidently, she is too young to be in school. She lives with her parents, Karl and Barbara, and eight siblings: Karl Jr., Barbara, Kate, Bertha, Henry, Christina, Fred, and Imanuel. The family lives in Wachter Township, McPherson County, South Dakota. [KlW 02.]
In the 1910 U. S. Federal Census, Luisa (Louise) Wacker is an 18 year old, white, single female. She was born in South Dakota of parents who were both born in Russian and who both speak German. She is not in school. She has no employ either on the farm or outside the home. The census record is not clear on the language issue. It indicates that she speaks German, but does she speak English? And although it indicates that she reads and writes, it does not state what language. Thus, there is confusion on this issue. Luisa lives with her parents, Karl and Barbara, and three siblings: Fred, Emeale, and Marth. The family lives in Wacker Township, McPherson County, South Dakota. [KlW 04.]

This Census Record indicates that Karl was married at age 21 and Barbara at age 20. Thus, they could have been married at 1874 or 75. Until a marriage record is found, there is some doubt as to the actual date. [DLL.}
