Notes |
- All of a sudden, William H. Meeks arrives on the scene. We have not seen him prior to this moment. I do not have time to find him in a previous census document. Someone else will have to do that for us. In the 1870 U. S. Federal Census, William H. Meeks is a 17 year old, white male. He was born in Ohio of parent who were born in Ohio (father) and Pennsylvania (mother). His occupation is that of form laborer. He has attended school within the past year. William lives with his parents, John and Elizabeth, four sisters (Emeretta, Mary, Lenora, Susan), a brother, Lafayette, and his grandfather, John Meeks. The family lives in Webster Township, Hamilton County, Iowa. [MJ 02.]
