When Ida and Emilie came to the U.S., they came together. Ida was 17 years old at the time. They met William Braemer on the ship. [This story is slightly different from that of Russell H. Sullivan (RHS 01), but that doesn't matter.              Ida did not talk much about her early life, saying that it was so long ago she didn't remember. Her mother died when she was 9, leaving her without family facts. Her father remarried and she was raised by a stepmother [IAS 01.]
The spelling of the name Braemer was changed later to Bramer [IAS 01.]

Her hair was long and black and did not show much grey until a few years before her death. After William's death, she lived alone in the house they built in 1924 until her death. She was helped by her son Arthur.
