He was born in Iowa of parents that were both born in Iowa, in March of 1898. He also lives with a sister, Gladys, an uncle, Edward W. Brewer, and Elsie Welch, a step-sister of Mabel. In the 1930 U. S. Federal Census, Ralph R. Pierce is a 36 [32] year old, white, married male. He is married to Alice A. Welharticky, probably for two or three years (numbers indicate otherwise, but they also do not make sense). He was born of parents who were both born in Iowa. He owns his own home and a radio. He lives on a farm in Connelly Township, Wilkin County, Minnesota, with his wife, Alice, and a farm laborer, William Coleman. He reads, writes, and speaks English. He is a farmer in general farming; he is at work at the time of the census. He has not been in any U. S. Military organization. [RRP 08.]
In the 1940 U. S. Federal Census, Ralph Roy Pierce is a 41 year old, married male. He was born in Iowa, but since 1935, he has lived in the same place (Minnesota). He lives on a farm and owns his own house, worth $2,000. He is married to Alice Welharticky. He is not attending school, but has finished eight grades. He is at work on his farm; he is a farmer. From March 24-30, 1940, he worked 84 hours. During 1939, he worked 52 weeks during the year. He did not take income of $50 or more from sources other than money from wages or salary. He is an employer. He employs two hired hands: Quinton Berndt and Telbert Thompson, as well as Dorthy Kean. He lives with his wife, Dorothy, and three children: Dorothy, Frank, and Annette. The family lives in Connolly Township, Wilkin County, Minnesota. [RRP 09.]
From a note of Annette M. Pierce, a daughter:
"[Ralph] farmed in the Breckenridge area, then ran a trucking company out of Fargo (Pierce Trucking). He moved to Frazee, Minnesota, where he again farmed." [RRP 03.]

Ralph Pierce, 67, former Webster City resident, died Sunday, March 21, at Fargo, N.D.
Funeral services for Mr. Pierce were help at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 28 at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Harvey Prinz officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery
Organ music was supplied by Mrs. William Steinbruch.
Pallbearers were Merrill Pierce, M. J. Lebrands, Elston Downs, Robert Richey, Charles Seiser and Sterling McKee.
A former Webster City resident, Mr. Pierce was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce of this community. for many years after moving from the Webster City community, he had resided at Breckenridge and Frazell (sic), Minn.
Mr. Pierce is survived by two sons, three daughters and two sisters. [RRP 05.]
