  • Notes
    •        Margaret went to college in Webster City, IA. After marrying Clair and moving to Arkansas, she taught elementary school briefly.
Margaret and Clair lived in Pyatt, Cotter, then North Little Rock, Arkansas, then Liberty, Missouri. At the end of WWII, they moved to Springfield, Missouri where they lived until her death in 1977.
In the 1920 U. S. Federal Census, Margaret Mary Stuart is a four year old, white, single female. She speaks English, but is not in school. However, there are some inconsistencies with other census records. She was born in Scotland, not Nebraska and her mother was also born in Scotland, not Nebraska. That could be to hide the fact that she was not a citizen for the census. She is also too young to have an employ outside the home. Margaret lives with her parents, Elizabeth and James, and two sisters: Nora and Kate. The family lives at 8112 State Street, Omaha, Ward 12, Douglas County, Nebraska. [SJG 03.]
In the 1925 Iowa State Census, Margaret Mary Stuart is a 10 year old, white, single female. She has completed four grades in school and reads, writes, and speaks English. It is not clear what all the codes mean. However, Margaret lives with her parents, James and Elizabeth, a sister Nora, and a brother, James D. The family lives in Garner Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. [SJG 01.]
In the 1930 U. S. Federal Census, Margaret Stuart is a 14 year old, white, single female. She does live on a farm. She is attending school and she reads writes, and speaks English. Margaret was born in Scotland of parent who were also both born in Scotland. She also spoke Scotch prior to coming to the United States. She immigrated with her parents in 1916; papers have been filed. Margaret has no employ outside outside the home. She lives with her parents, Elizabeth and James, and two siblings: Nora and James D. The family lives in Crescent Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. [SJG 02.]
