       In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Ethyle Pierce, the wife of Bert E. Pierce is living with their two twin sons, Burrill and Merrill Pierce, Ann Fay, her daughter, and her mother in law, Elida Bates Pierce (Wood). Ethyle is a white, 49 year old, married, white female, born in Illinois of parents who were born in Virginia (father) and Pennsylvania (mother). She was first married at age 19. She speaks, reads, and writes English; is currently not in school. She has no profession [but she is keeping up a farmhouse with five other people.] [BEzP 07.]

       Mrs. Pierce Dies at 84
       Mrs. Bert E. Pierce, 84, longtime resident of the Webster City community, died Saturday evening at the Hamilton county hospital. She had been in ill health the past two years.
       Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Paul Heath officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Ethyle Mary Gilmore, daughter of John and Rachel Gilmore, was born Jan. 20, 1881, on a farm near LeRoy, Ill. When she was 10 years old, she came with her parents to Iowa, locating at Webster City. She was educated in the Webster City schools, later attending Drake University, Des Moines.
       For a number of years, Mrs. Pierce taught music and China painting in the webster City community.
She was united in marriage Jan. 2. 1915, at Chicago to Bert E. Pierce and the couple farmed for many years south of Webster City. In 1952, the family retired and moved into Webster City, the family home since.
       She is survived by her husband, two sons and one daughter, Burrill Pierce of Reseda, Calif., Merrill Pierce, Webster City, and Mrs. A. L. (Elinor Faye) Steed of Anaheim, Calif.: six grandhcildren; one great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
       She was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca LaVonne, who died in infancy; by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
       Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Methodist church. [EMGi 03.]

Ethyle married Bert Ezra Pierce on 2 Jan 1915. Bert (son of William Henry Pierce and Elida Jane Bates) was born on 31 Jan 1882 in Kamrar, Iowa on a nearby farm.; died on 13 Nov 1966 in Webster City, Iowa; was buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, Iowa. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
